Licensed Chiropractor

My journey to chiropractic took time, but when I found it I knew there was no other option.

Growing up I was constantly involved in sports, and my mom, being a proactive parent, always brought me in to see a chiropractor. At a very young age, I began getting adjusted and learning the philosophy.

During my junior year at Central Michigan University, I fell on the ice and injured my lower back and pelvis. A chiropractor was able to help me recover after a week of adjustments. Until that point, I had no career path and that event changed my life; I knew I was meant to be a chiropractor.

Make your life extraordinary
I practice what I preach. I believe the body needs four forces to be healthy; healthy food, healthy thought, healthy movements, and 100% nerve flow to every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. I live my life working to provide my body with those four forces.

Educational background and credentials
• B.S. from Central Michigan University in Health Fitness and Rehabilitation
• Doctorate from Life University in Atlanta, GA, in 2009
• Founded Hands On Health Chiropractic in 2013

Licensed Chiropractor

I started my working career as a graphic designer and worked in that world for nearly 15 years. Along the way, the stress, deadlines, and headaches of that business burned me out. I didn’t want to hate something I loved, so I was open to another path.

At the same time, I was a patient in a practice in Highland, MI, and the doctor there was passionate and excited about his office and life as a chiropractor. Though many chiropractors are brought to this profession through a personal injury and chiropractic recovery, I just loved the philosophy and science of chiropractic and how it frees and stimulates the body to heal. This was what inspired me to go to Palmer College of Chiropractic, and I graduated magna cum laude in 1999.

Since then, I’ve worked at and owned several chiropractic offices in the area, joining the HOH team in 2015. Of all the chiropractic offices I’ve been involved with, this office is the closest to perfect I’ve experienced. There are many facets of personal health and wellness here. I’m proud to be part of a group that has synergistic ideas on how to improve the health of their patients.

My decision to pursue a career as a chiropractor happened early in college when I began having headaches due to poor posture while studying. Adjustments and postural correction allowed me to be able to be active again. The idea of addressing underlying causes, rather than just treating and masking symptoms, seemed to make too much sense to me — the decision to shift my medical path toward chiropractic was a no-brainer.

While in chiropractic school, I began digging deeper into functional movement analysis and the application of chiropractic to sports. I grew up ski racing and playing golf, as well as being active outdoors as often as possible. As an athlete who understands that I need sports and movement as my stress outlets, I wanted to use my skills to keep people doing the things they love to do.

I’ve continued to study different applications of functional movement analysis to all ages and populations, from kids to weekend warriors to NFL athletes to pre- and postnatal women and beyond. This past year I completed my yoga teacher certification, and yoga has been a powerful supplemental tool for resetting proper movement patterns.

Injury prevention is something that we can and should practice every single day. I am passionate about helping people find their way out of pain and helping them understand compensations they have developed and what can be done daily to correct dysfunctional patterns and prevent future injury.

Educational Background and Certifications

• Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL

Licensed Chiropractor

I started getting adjusted by a chiropractor at 13-years-old during a summer full of basketball and football camps that caused intense hip and lower back pain. After a few adjustments, I was back to feeling 100%, and I knew this was something I was interested in.

I spent time shadowing chiropractors, and once I learned more about the philosophy and how chiropractic helped me recover and perform, I knew this was the career I wanted to pursue. I want to help others improve their quality of life through chiropractic adjustments and allow the body to use its innate ability to heal from within.

Educational Background and Certifications
• Bachelor of Science from Adrian College in Exercise Science
• Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University in Atlanta, GA

Licensed Massage Therapist
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) Level 1 Certified

Natural health practices have been a part of my life since the mid ‘80s. As an athlete, I realized the benefits of proper nutrition and exercise.

These inspirations stuck with me as I studied Sports Medicine and worked as a therapy aide in residential and outpatient. The improvements I saw our patients achieve through massage and exercise inspired me to formally study therapeutic massage.

In 1994, I graduated from Irene’s Myomassology Institute. Our studies were beyond just therapeutic massage, and also included herbology, nutrition, and aromatherapy. These areas are all an integral part of my practice and my life.

I love to learn and update my training through continuing education courses regularly. It is a joy for me to share what I learn with my clients in supporting their health needs and goals. I incorporate a variety of techniques and modalities into my sessions. Everyone’s body is unique, and this belief helps me tailor each session and better accommodate your healing process.

Licensed Massage Therapist
Craniosacral Therapy Certified

My passion for health, learning, and helping others drove me to become a massage therapist. As an active person, I have always had a fascination with how the body moves and living a healthy lifestyle to support and maintain that vitality.

After experiencing loss and overtraining in the gym, I turned to yoga to help soothe my physical body and quickly discovered that my mind and spirit were nurtured, as well. After I developed a steady yoga practice, I decided to take it to the next level and received my RYT 200-hour yoga certification. I began teaching in 2010.

Since becoming a licensed therapist, I have continued my education in the field of Craniosacral Therapy. I will be attending my third level of training in Spring 2020.

I’m excited about my new career path and look forward to introducing my patients to the healing powers of massage and what they can do for the mind, body, and spirit. I also like to utilize a variety of massage modalities to treat TMJ, headaches, and migraines. If an hour of stress relief and relaxation is all you need, here at Hands on Health Chiropractic, we can take care of that, too!

Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

I got my start after finding that nutrition – not the countless other therapies I had tried – was the key to transforming my kids’ health. Seeing first-hand how real, whole food was helping calm the symptoms of things like autism, asthma, eczema and attention and learning disabilities, I knew I had found the key to helping my family – and a career that I was truly passionate about.

So, I got to work. I earned my Nutritional Therapy Practitioner certificate from the Nutritional Therapy Association. I learned all I could about nutrient deficiencies and their effect on the body’s systems. I embraced new ways of feeding my family that were actually very, very old. I created customized detoxification programs, diets, and supplementation strategies. I made my own kombucha, kefir, yogurt, bone broth, sourdough, and fermented veggies. Most importantly, I began sharing my knowledge with others and seeing the amazing power of food as medicine.

Today, I’m fortunate to partner with amazing health professionals who share my passion for a holistic approach to health and wellness. By combining nutritional therapy with chiropractic care, we’re creating real and lasting improvements for our patients.

Licensed Massage Therapist

I’ve been surrounded by massage therapy my entire life. I was fortunate to be raised by a mother who is a strong role model and committed Massage Therapist. She remains my mentor to this day.

I grew up in Finland and after finishing college, I moved to Michigan with my husband where we started a family and raised two beautiful children. In 2017 I returned to school to pursue my passion for bodywork and holistic healing.

I graduated from Irene’s Myomassology Institute where I also apprenticed with nationally recognized massage instructor, Jeanette Roach. Helping people is my passion and I feel privileged to use the skills I developed to help others.

In my practice, I specialize in therapeutic deep tissue massage. I often incorporate myofascial stretching and positional release therapy. I love to see my clients live pain-free and with improved range of motion. My goal as a massage therapist is to assist and invite clients to actively participate in their own health.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, and camping with my family. I also take an interest in nutrition and toxic-fee living.
